“A living reminder that spring always follows winter.”

Now fully bloomed, it grows more powerful every wave it survives.

Strategy

  • The Sakura is the last upgrade of the Sakura upgrade path. Following the trend of the upgrade path, the Sakura is initially very low cost effectiveness. However, its ability allows it to grow in power with each wave it survives after the wave ends. This means that if it dies in the common zone, the Sakura will not be able to grow in power. Once it grows in power, the value of the unit will increase by 15 gold per stacks acquired. Before wave 10, 1 stack is acquired per wave survived. Past wave 10, this number increases to 2.
  • It is possible to play the Sakura as an opener but multiple things have to be taken into consideration. During the early waves, the player will have very little pressure on the opponent since the player will require to start on 2 workers.
  • It is also imperative to lose as little stacks as possible in the early game while still being able to build up a substantial amount of workers. This requires to choose your roll appropriately to cover the weak waves of the Sakura as well as maximizing the health utilization over all your units, including the Sakura. This overall playstyle normally forces the player towards a more passive early game which can backfire if the enemy has a late game roll in their hands.
  • Another way to use the Sakura is as a mid game DPS unit. While a bit less effective than the Sakura start, it is still some additional value that is added to your board for "free", if the Sakura survives. This can be quite oppressive if the player going for it is already ahead and has an answer for wave 14. By wave 15, the Sakura would acquire as much stacks as the first 10 waves if done that way.
  • Note that the Sakura can be particularly strong for a Castle player, providing some additional scaling on the first 10 waves, where the mastermind is usually rather weak.
  • A Sakura opener is discouraged, if your team mate is playing Fiesta for two reasons. Fistly, your team mates leaks might easily kill your Sakura in the middle, preventing it from getting a stack. Secondly, the intentional leaks of the Fiesta player prolong the waves, where you typically will suffer from a worker deficit.
